Welcome to the SJPA Website!
SJPA is a voluntary, non-profit organization composed of paralegals, students, vendors, and sponsors who study and/or work in a variety of areas in the legal field. SJPA members are dedicated to promoting the paralegal profession by networking, offering continuing legal education classes, mentoring students, and educating the public.
In June 1985, the SJPA became the 33rd association member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations which represents paralegal associations throughout the Nation. SJPA also continues to play an active role in the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Paralegal Committee. In 2010, we began offering our members the opportunity to be credentialed through the New Jersey Certified Paralegal Program. In May 2013, SJPA celebrated its 30 year anniversary of incorporation and continues to grow and support the paralegal community.
SJPA is looking forward to the next year with enthusiasm. The new officers of the Board of Directors for the year 2015-16 were installed at our general dinner meeting on June 23, 2015 by New Jersey Supreme Court Justice, Honorable Lee A. Solomon. At the meeting, Justice Solomon spoke on the topic “Ethics” as it pertains to the legal field and paralegals. His speech was well-received by all the attendees.
At the installation meeting, SJPA’s Recognition Committee presented the “Paralegal Member of the Year” award to Ms. Maureen Garrett, a past-president of SJPA. Becky Reedy, NJCP and past-president for 2014-2015 received the “Board Member Paralegal of the Year” award. I offer my congratulations to two very dedicated paralegals who have both worked hard over many years for this organization.
As SJPA’s newest president, I will continue SJPA’s commitment to the promotion of the paralegal profession with the assistance of our new Board of Directors and members. Please do not hesitate to contact myself or any other board member with your questions, comments or suggestions.Susan R. Merewitz, NJCP
